An Announcement: A Continuation of the Child of Feiradyr Series Coming Soon! And Other Updates

Hello my readers! I hope you all are doing well on this beautiful day.

Last year, I finished a series I was calling Child of Feiradyr. In it, I detailed the creation of my fantasy world of the same name. I had an absolute blast making that series. I have another series on my channel called Folk of Feiradyr where we learn about the various races that call Feiradyr home, but that series is very much a work in progress because the things in it are all subject to large amounts of change. When you’re working with 15+ races in a high fantasy setting, getting everything organized and planned involving things like trade, culture, and politics is quite the monumental task.

But there are other parts of my world… Pieces of lore and worldbuilding that run deep. Vast swaths of history about war and territory and love and hatred and struggles for power. The history of my races and the birth of their cultures. The great beings that came into power after the Mother Stallarin fell. My huge map of Feiradyr. All the enormous deep oceans, towering mountains, wild thick forests and fields that stretch on for miles.

Pieces of this lore will make it into my novels. Some will have more than others. And I have stories upon all the continents of Feiradyr, and even ones that will swim through the seas. But I can only say so much in a novel about the rich lore of my world. I can’t drone on and on about the Breathing Forest or the deep magic of the Everywhere or the watery and bloody kingdoms of the Merfolk. I can’t explain how what the Elves did costed them dearly. There are things that will be left on the cutting room floor, inevitably. Essentially, those things are my Silmarillion.

But, to be perfectly frank, I don’t have the desire to write all of these things into a book and sell it to you. Will that ever change? Perhaps. Maybe someday when I’ve published a few books, I will scrape together all of my lore and worldbuilding and the greater history surrounding my world and publish it as some special edition bible of Feiradyr.

But that doesn’t change my current desire to talk about all of these things. To talk about my world is to experience happiness. And I want to share it with other people. I want to let you into my world and show you just how far it goes.

And so I realized that this blog is kind of the perfect place for my droning. To endlessly talk about the intricacies of the types of cooking techniques my various races utilize. To discuss the architectural differences between dwarven and kyree city structure. To explain the myriad ways that the Ahtnaks survive the brutal wintry weather of their homeland.

With that being said, I am pleased to announce a new “spinoff” if you will of my Child of Feiradyr series. In this series we will be going deep into the lore and worldbuilding of Feiradyr. You will be a child immersed in the stories of the world you’ve found yourself in. We will be exploring many aspects of Feiradyr and its history. Think of yourself being told stories by your grandmother. That is the sort of vibe this series is going to encompass. We’re going to go broad and then narrow our focus over time. I’m going to use this series not only as a way to talk about my worldbuilding that can’t be included in novels, but also as a way for you guys to see some more of what I can do, and to get my work out there a bit more outside of my novels.

I’m still waiting to get the supplies I need in order to complete my map of Feiradyr. I know that will help you guys a lot when it comes to my worldbuilding. I have the blueprint, but it’s only on tracing paper at the moment, so it doesn’t look pretty enough to post. When I get the materials I need and complete the map and a watermark for it so that it can’t be copied as easily, I will be posting it to the blog and most likely do a post on just the map and use the map as a photo for most of this series I’m discussing in this post. That way there is reference material for where we are talking about. This map was an enormous project that took a lot of time, energy, and patience. It is most definitely something I want to share with all of you.

I don’t know exactly when the first episode of this new series will drop, but I will start working on it probably sometime next week. I am still hard at work on my The Last of Us Part 2 analysis, and we are finally halfway done. I cannot wait to get that project done and over with so that I can devote more of my time to more personal projects (stuff to do with Feiradyr and my own writing). But it is a necessary evil, and honestly getting it off of my chest is giving me more energy and strength to plunge deeper into my own world. There’s something about bad media that ignites a fire in my soul to put forth a thousand times more effort into my own work. Whatever that says about me I’m not entirely sure, whether it be bad or good, but it’s the truth and my transparency is kind of what I’m known for.

Thank you all so much for reading at my blog each week. I see the people who come back week after week to read what I have to say and you guys are amazing. I’ll see you again next week, hopefully, and now I’m off to work on my TLOU2 analysis some more. My first post on the topic will be dropping with episode one of season 2 of The Last of Us on April 13th, which means that week’s post will be one day late, as will each subsequent post drop until I’m done with my TLOU2 post drops. I have a feeling they may stretch on well beyond the show being done since I already have one less post than there are going to be episodes and I’m only halfway done with the game, but that’s fine because I’m sure the discussion around the show will also stretch on for quite awhile after it comes to a close. Closer to time I will announce how many posts I have and the dates for their drops, and I will begin work on my comparison post as soon as I can watch all of the episodes of season 2. Thank you again for reading and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend.

Happy reading!
